Kashiwazaki Daiko

柏崎太鼓

Unique design. Luxurious sponge cake laid in a box.

“Kashiwazaki Daiko” made by Mogamiya, a long-established Japanese confectionery in Kashiwazaki City, Niigata Prefecture, is a uniquely shaped sweet made by wrapping red bean paste in sponge cake-like dough and baking it in aluminum foil. Mogamiya has a long history dating back to 1871, and has been a longtime favorite in Kashiwazaki City, as well as continuing to make sweets that reflect the city’s culture and traditions.

柏崎太鼓を開封

Opened the package, I found an aluminum foil box. Like a lunch box, it is a strange feeling to find sweets in this box.

Open the lid,  the sponge cake dough laid out. The seamless feeling is extremely luxurious.

柏崎太鼓の見た目

箱の形通りの四角形カクカクのケーキ。ずっしりと重みがあるので、中身はケーキ生地ではなく餡が詰まっているようです。

Inside is yolk bean paste. It is neatly arranged in a square shape.
