Soba Mochi
Japanese notation "そば餅(本家尾張屋)"
“Honke-Owariya” is a famous soba noodle shop in Kyoto. The history of the restaurant is quite impressive. It was founded in 1465 ! making it the oldest restaurant in Japan with a known founding date! The manju made by Honke-Owariya is the “Soba Mochi”.
The authentic “manju” form with a sense of history. The top is sprinkled with black sesame seeds.
The manju’s skin is nice and thick, and the color is beautiful. The dough may be kneaded with buckwheat flour and has a slight aroma of buckwheat.
I like the balance between the skin and the red bean paste.
The manju skin is very attractive, perhaps because it is made from buckwheat flour by a very long-established buckwheat noodle shop, and the taste is simple but delicious. The “Soba Mochi,” which is sold as a representative confection of the Honke-Owariya, is a delicious manju backed by history.
