Yama-Oyaji
Simple taste at its finest.
Japanese notation "ノースマン"
The famous pie manju “Northman” by Senshuan, a long-established confectionery in Sapporo. It is as famous as Yama-oyaji. This is also one of my personal favorites and one of the sweets I used to eat often in the past.
Delicate pie crust made with many layers of dough and plenty of butter. The golden brown surface looks delicious.
Inside is koshian (sweet bean paste). It is also exquisitely delicious. You can tell right away that the “Koshi An” was made especially for Northman because it goes perfectly with the pie.
It’s still delicious. The sweetness of the red bean paste has been calculated to perfection, and I think it is perfectly balanced with the pie.
