Petit Marron
Japanese notation "プティマロン"
I bought a “Petit Marron” made by “Swiss Confectionery Shop,” which opened its first confectionery store in Kumamoto Prefecture in 1962. The package is a dazzling green color with no logo, and is very simple.
Bite-sized sponge cake. Chestnuts seem to be kneaded into the batter.
When split in half, the sponge dough is quite moist in texture.
I was amazed by one bite, it was delicious! I was shocked at how delicious a sponge cake from a real pastry shop could be. The cake batter is rich in aroma, probably due to the abundant use of mellow wine, and the chestnuts seem to have been soaked in syrup, giving the cake an elegant marron glacée flavor. I bought it in pieces, but I bought only one piece for the low price of 80 yen. I couldn’t believe that this taste was under 100 yen.
