Sandaisugi

Japanese notation "三代杉"
The “Three Great Cedars” confections made by Fleur Kikuya in Iwate Prefecture are based on the three connected cedars that stand near the main hall of Chuson-ji Temple in Hiraizumi, Iwate Prefecture.
The package, painted in black ink, is austere. At the time, I thought it was a traditional Japanese confectionery based on the keynote of the package, but a surprising result awaited me.
The sweets were carefully wrapped in Japanese paper. It is very solemn.
The top and bottom dough has a cookie-like texture, but the outer sandwich has a sponge cake-like texture.
When I split it in two, I found that inside was a chocolate cream wrapped around the outside was a baumkuchen. It is a very tricky structure.
The cookie ground that surrounds the rich chocolate cream and the baumkuchen on the outside are moist and go well together. This product is sure to be a welcome souvenir when visiting Chuson-ji Temple.
