Awaji Orange Marl

Surprising to know the Naruto orange is endemic in Awaji Island.

“Awaji Orange Marl” made by Nagate Choeido in Sumoto City, Hyogo Prefecture, is a chocolate flavor sweet bun wrapping their original bean paste, which is made using planty of “Naruto Oranges”.  The Naruto Orange is grown locally in Awaji Island.

The “Naruto Orange”  is a purely Japanese origin orange that has not been refined since it was discovered growing  naturally over 300 years.   It is surprising that oranges naturally grow in Japan in the first place. It is a variety indigenous to Awaji Island, and is characterized by its refreshing acidity, bitterness, and strong aroma.

When break it, the aroma of orange spreads. It is an original bean paste made from Naruto orange, butter, Awaji Island milk, and condensed milk.
