Horoyoi Momiji-manju
Japanese notation "ほろ酔いもみじ饅頭"
The “Horoyoi Momiji-manju” made by Tenkodo in Naka Ward, Hiroshima City, is a “Momiji-manju” filled with alcohol. Chocolate also seems to be used, giving it a blend of Japanese and Western flavors.
The word “Horoyoi” means a little bit drunk.
Bright red film pakage, I kept it in the refrigerator because it said it tastes better when chilled.
It looks not much different from a typical Momiji-manju, but when you flip it over,,
It is generously coated with chocolate. Moreover, the chocolate gives off a soft aroma of brandy.
Itself seems to have been dipped in brandy and the whole dough is very moist.
The Momiji-manju, moistened with brandy, tasted like tiramisu. It is strange that the aroma of Western liquor and Japanese sweets go so well together, but the harmonious taste made it very tasty.
