Usukawa-Imo-kin
Asakusa Nakamise-Street is famous for "Imo-kin"
Japanese notation "調布(廣榮堂)"
I bought “Chō-fu” made by Koueido in Okayama City. Kyoeido is a long-established Japanese confectioner in Okayama, famous for making “Kibi-dango”.
Gyuhi (rice cake) is wrapped in a thin crepe-like sponge cake dough. The name “Chō-fu” comes from its resemblance to the hand-woven rolls of cloth that were delivered to the Imperial Court as taxes in ancient times.
Huge chunks of gyuhi(rice cake) can be seen through the gaps in the sponge cake dough. You don’t often see such a large lump of gyuhi.
The volume of the gyuhi is still amazing!
I think many people would have liked to try this kind of balance. It was an amazingly satisfying snack.
