Cranberry Sandwich
Japanese notation "クランベリーサンド(横浜かをり)"
“Cranberry sandwiches” are made by “Yokohama Kaori” which opened as a coffee shop in 1947 in Yamashita-cho, Yokohama City. The “Yokohama Kaori” started business as a confectionery store in 1969, and has been highly popular as a long-established confectionery store with a good reputation in Yokohama.
One such popular and well-reputed product from “Yokohama Kaori” is this “Cranberry Sandwich”. Cranberry fruit and couverture chocolate cream are sandwiched between cocoa-flavored cookies.
A neatly formed cookie sandwich.
Splitting it in half reveals chocolate cream and cranberry fruit.
The cranberries are soaked in “Kirschwasser”, a distilled spirit of cherries, and are very fragrant.
Delicious! The subtle tartness of the cranberries and the fine chocolate cream are a perfect match. The soft aroma of distilled spirits gives it a mature taste, but it is also a perfect cookie sandwich.
