Fukusa Mochi
Japanese notation "ふくさ餅"
“Fukusa mochi” made by Murakami Confectionery in Kanazawa, Ishikawa is a popular souvenir in Kanazawa. A “Fukusa” is a cloth used to wrap a congratulatory gift at a wedding or to cover an item when giving a gift.
It is a confectionary that is a perfect representation of a gift wrapped in a “Fukusa“.
The outer dough, kneaded with brown sugar, is wrapped so that the air bubbles appear as a pattern on the surface. The inside is filled with azuki bean paste and large pieces of Gyuhi(rice cake), creating a luxurious finish.
Look at the size of this Gyuhi. Amazing volume, I feel happy when the gyuuhi is big.
The brown sugar-scented dough, refreshing sweet bean paste, and large pieces of gyuhi are a perfect combination for a luxurious taste. The dough is as you would expect from a long-established Japanese confectionery in Kanazawa.
