Otaru Sablé Marron-Colon
Japanese notation "小樽サブレ マロンコロン"
“Otaru Sablé Marron-Colon” is made by “Amatō” a confectioner in Otaru City, Hokkaido. Otaru has developed as one of the leading port cities in Hokkaido, and has an image of a city where a culture rich in originality has been formed. It is an exotic town with a somewhat European atmosphere and the Otaru Canal and warehouse district are impressive.
“Amatō” has been operating a confectionery shop in Otaru since 1929, and many of the sweets in their lineup seem to have a somewhat exotic flavor. The marron cologne is said to be a representative confectionery of “Amatō” and is very popular among the locals.
The round Sablé, coated with chocolate on the sides, is about 1 cm thick and has a very substantial volume. It was sold chilled at the store.
A thin layer of cream is spread between the sablé and the aroma of almonds wafts through the air.
The almonds kneaded into the dough and the crunchy texture of the sable are delicious! It was a high-quality Western-style pastry with a slightly exotic flavor that felt like Otaru.
