Hirado Maru-bōro

Japanese notation"平戸 丸ぼうろ(楠製菓)"
A traditional Maru-bōro reminiscent of the era of the Nanban trade
“Hirado Maru-bōro” is made by “Kusunoki Confectionery” in Hirado City, Nagasaki Prefecture.” Maru-bōro” is famous in Saga Prefecture, but Maru-bōro was introduced to Japan during the time of the Nanban trade, and the so-called “Sugar Road,” a roadway that brought sugar to Japan, connects Nagasaki City to Kokura, and it seems that Maru-bōro was introduced to Hirado City, which is located on the roadway, for a long time.
Hirado is a port that became the center of the Nanban trade at that time.
The overall texture of Maru-bōro is moist yet chewy yet fluffy.
The dough itself is also sticky, and the inside of the dough contains plenty of air.
Stable taste. We are once again grateful for the unchanged deliciousness of sponge cakes and bolo pastries that were introduced to Japan during the time of the Nanban trade.
