Shōro Manju

Japanese notation "松露饅頭"
“Shōro Manju” is a bun made by Ohara Rohpo, a long-established bakery established in 1850. “Shoro” is the name of a mushroom that grows every spring and fall, and the “Shōro Manju” is shaped like a cute little sphere in the shape of a “Shoro”.
It is about the size of a ping pong ball. The sponge cake is made with eggs laid by free-range chickens and a fine, high quality sweet bean paste produced in Hokkaido.
The sponge cake dough is very thin and beautifully cross-sectioned with no gaps filled with red bean paste.
The carefulness with which the artisans bake each piece is evident in the finished product.
The manju had a gentle taste with a moderate sweetness that conveyed the delicate craftsmanship of the artisan.
