Negi-miso Pon
Japanese notation "ねぎみそポン"
Fukasawa Seika in Tottori City, Tottori Prefecture, is a long-established confectionery that has been in business for over 70 years. They mainly make “Pon-kashi,” a type of confectionery made by expanding rice by applying heat and pressure to it and then releasing it all at once.
This time I bought “Negi-miso Pon”.
Large disc-shaped poncakes, very lightweight.
It easily breaks in half, but it also has a fluffy texture, It’s hard to describe, but it has a “Styrofoam” feel to it. Or maybe not… Anyway, it’s fluffy, yet crispy and savory.
Delicious! The aroma of red miso and green onions are the best match for poncakes made of rice. Since it is originally made of rice, it makes sense that it goes well with miso when you think about it.
