I bought a “Piyopiyo Monaka” made by Hiyoko Corporation, which produces “Meika Hiyoko” (famous confectionery). The name may sound cute, but it is a genuine monaka.

The sesame bean paste is savory, and the green tea bean paste has a strong green tea flavor with a hint of bitterness. Despite its cute chick shape, it is a genuine “monaka” . As expected of a Japanese confectionery shop with a long history. It is an interesting monaka that would make a great souvenir.
