Jomon Ruins Cookies
Japanese notation "縄文遺跡クッキー"
I bought “Jomon Ruins Cookies” made by Hatoya Confectionery in Aomori City, Aomori Prefecture. Hachoya Seika is one of my personal favorite makers of “Soft-Ringo“, a freeze-dried apple product. The “Jomon Ruins Cookies” I bought this time were also an interesting confectionary with a unique approach.
First of all, the reason why the cookies are called “Jomon Ruins” is because they are named after the “Sannai-Maruyama Ruins” in Aomori City, and the shape of the cookies is based on a plate-shaped clay figurine excavated from the ruins.
And here is a cookie in the shape of a “plate clay figurine,” which is a bit eerie or surrealistic.
The expression is a bit scary lol.
It looks like Munch’s “The Scream”. I guess this is what happens when you turn clay figures into cookies.
The coarser texture allows more air to be added, resulting in a lighter feel in the mouth.
I couldn’t tell what it was, but it tasted like it had some spices in it, which gave it an original flavor. It was definitely reminiscent of the “Jomon Era” with its rustic taste and texture. On the other hand, the sweetness was firm and the moist texture of the dough made for a delicious cookie.
