Shimizuya Nama-Cream Pan
Japanese notation "清水屋 生クリームパン"
I got a hold of “Shimizuya Nama-Cream Pan (Fresh Cream Bread)” made by Shimizuya Foods in Okayama City, Okayama Prefecture. It seems to be a popular cream bun that has become a bit of a hot topic and can be found in the sweets section of convenience stores these days.
At a glance, it is hard to imagine that it is a cream bun. It seems to be made with a lot of fresh cream, and it is a “must be refrigerated” bread.
Upon opening the package, I found a pure white bread with a fairly moist texture. The bread dough is very soft and moist.
There are more than 10 different flavors of whipped cream, but this time I will have the “custard,” which is the standard favorite.
The texture is just like melting. The cream is not too sweet and contains plenty of air, and the bread dough is like a soft, thin crust that envelops the cream, melting in your mouth like snow. No wonder this is a hot topic of conversation.
