"Poem" lovers should try it once! Raw Texture

Ehime’s famous confectionery “poem” comes in many varieties, but this one is called “Nama-Poem” which means “raw” in Japanese, and its concept is to have a “raw” texture.

I had been aware that “poem” was a baked good, but this one has a very different texture. It stands in a case and is bite-sized.

The outside is moist and buttery, with a rich aroma of yellowish red bean paste. The dough is made with Naruto kintoki (Naruto kintoki is a Branded sweet potato), which is made with the juice of mikan oranges produced in Ehime Prefecture, giving it an egg color.

Overall, it is quite soft and even feels like a kneaded pastry.

The rich buttery aroma and eggy flavor of the bean paste is somewhat like a Western confectionery. It seems that the name “Nama-Poem” refers to this texture. It has a luxurious and mellow flavor that is different from the baked pastry “poem”. It is interesting that there are so many different versions of “poem”.
