Iori-no-Momiji

Fresh sweets shapping maple leaves

“Iori-no-Momiji” is a fresh confectionery shaped of autumn leaves made by Sasaya Iori, who established their confectionery store in Kyoto founded in 1716.

The paper package is a stylish autumnal design tied with a string on the the top of the package. It looks a traditional elegant confectionery.

The shape is similar to Momiji-manju, but the texture is completely different.  Pasted red bean is molded in the shape.

Looking at the inside from the side, the middle bean paste has two layers, and the upper layer seems to be pasted Egg yolk bean.

It is delicate flavor. The pasted bean jam crumbles gently. The refined sweetness of this confectionary presents the ability of a long-established Japanese confectionary store in Kyoto with a long history.
