Japanese notation "梅不し"
Founded in 1688, Nishikawa-ya is a very long-established Japanese confectionery in Kochi Prefecture, famous for producing “Kenpi” but this “Ume-boshi” is also their signature product.
Wrapped in paper, it has an elegant appearance.
It contains two fingertip-sized rice cakes. How cute.
The sugar-covered gyuhi (rice cake) is filled with red shiso pickled in Kishu Nanko ume plum vinegar.
The sweet and sour red shiso overflowed with the flavor of plums and mixed with the surrounding gyuhi, creating a truly exquisite taste. It is indeed Nishikawa-ya’s signature product. It is also surprising that one package of this product can be purchased for as little as 76 yen.
