Mikasa

Japanese notation "三笠 (菓舗だいふく)"
“Mikasa” made by Kaho Daifuku in Omuta City in the southernmost part of Fukuoka Prefecture, is a sweet bean jam filled pancake. I have eaten their “Castella Manju” before, and they are a traditional confectionery shop there established 90 years ago.
Generally Naming “Mikasa” means dorayaki, bean jam filled pancake in Kansai region, mainly named in Nara Prefecture, and the confectioner also uses the same naming in Fufuoka.
It looks like a “dorayaki,” but it is about two-thirds the size of a typical dorayaki, and has a cute round shape.
It is filled with sweet bean paste and is a thick, and bouncy crust. The shape is somewhat reminiscent of a hamburger.
The dorayaki “Mikasa” is a compact size but satisfying.
